Library Thing

Well, I think I could really like this application. I have an extensive library at home and this would be a great way of keeping track of my books. Unfortunately - it requires major work on my part. Maybe a job for the future. I think a person could really use this library thing. It does not seem as intrusive to me as twitter does. While I just gave this library thing a quick overview - it is something that I will spend more of my own time looking at in detail. I must say that so far this is the first thing that has gotten my interest.

twitter

Well, I opened a twitter account - very user friendly. Now I just have to start using it. I still would rather phone or speak to my friends in person. Really I don't know many people who "tweet" I guess I just have to get with the times - I am still living in the dark ages. . My twitter page is http://twitter.com/whitgal. Leave me a "tweet"!!

10 RSS and newsreaders

Well, I found this week a bit more interesting. I subscribed to 2 WPL blogs, 1 newspaper and 1 tv stn as well as 2 library sites. I do see the value in subscribing to the news items as it allows you to view the highlights. I do however maintain that all this time spent viewing items electronically takes away from human contact. I wonder if that is not why people blog - to get some sort of human interaction in this hi tech world. Wouldn't it just be better to actually talk to someone about your thoughts. Is our world getting so rushed that we cannot find the time to actually communicate with actual words, facial expressions and heaven forbid - a gentle arm touch!!!

Do we really need to know all this information immediately!!!

week 3

While I admit the computer enables you to have a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips - I also have to admit that I must be technologically challenged. I find that when you start to research something it links to something else which links to something else which links to something else and so on. I find it all overwhelming. I also find this can be a great time waster. I am getting frustrated trying to absorb all the new information I am reading on this course.
Why am I looking at other people's pictures - of course this is coming from me - a very low tech person. I do not have nor do I want to have a facebook page.
I realize that flickr and other technology has a use for the vast majority of the public - just not for me (of course I am reserving the right to change my mind!!)

71/2 Habits article

While the article has definite merits, I have to agree with Carol, I did find that I was concentrating on the reader's pronounciation of certain words and waiting for the next time she dropped the 'g'. That aside - habit 6 - using technology to my advantage is very difficult for me. I am concerned that this course will have me very confused. It does so far and I am only on week 2 but at least I am not finding it scary and that is progress for me. I am not technically inclined so I do find new technology a bit overwhelming at times. I am thankful for the time to play and have fun with this new (to me) technology and I do look forward to becoming more comfortable using it and hopefully being able to show others (in some limited way) what I have learned

I am finding this confusing but not scary. Am I alone ?

confusion

test post #1

I am not technically inclined at all but I must say that it has been kind of fun trying to do this. Not as scary as I first thought
